In this episode, Dieter Kurtenbach joins and we chat about a variety of things. First, we chat about the Rich Paul Rule, and why it's total bullshit on behalf of the NCAA. Then, we chat about Kevin Durant's interview with Chris Haynes, then about Kemba Walker, the Hornets, and the Celtics. We finish on mental health in the NBA and a new initiative by the league.

Oh, and we chat feral hogs and people getting angry on the internet.

Aug 3, 2019

In this episode, it's a two-parter! First, Dieter Kurtenbach joins and we break down the Draymond Green four-year, $100 million extension -- as well as his role in the historical context of the NBA.

Then, we chat with Cole Zwicker about a variety of topics. We break down CJ McCollum's three-year, $100 million extension, followed by breaking down the weak 2020 free agency class. It gets dire in a hurry, but there are at least some interesting names worth bringing up including Andre Drummond, DeMar DeRozan, Mike Conley, Derrick Favors, Fred VanVleet, and more.

Finally, we jump into some draft prospects. First we talk Game Theory Podcast favorite Isaiah Joe. Then we run through some of the interesting returning prospects in the NCAA. This part jumps around.

Oh, and we read an absolutely legendary podcast review. I think it's the greatest in Game Theory Podcast history.

My new colleague at The Athletic, Seth Partnow, joins the show and we chat about a variety of topics surrounding analytics in the NBA, including shot distribution, over/underrated players, what is different about the team side versus the public side, and more. As former Director of Research for the Bucks, Seth has a wide number of areas of expertise.

In this episode, I chat with Cole Zwicker about three topics. First, we chat about Bradley Beal, and the Wizards options for him. What should they do if he doesn't sign the extension? Should they trade him? If they decide to move him, which team has the best package of assets?

Then, we chat briefly about Dragan Bender. What are his odds of resurrecting his career in Milwaukee?

Finally, we break down the potential 2019 Rookie extension candidates. First, we talk about the deals Ben Simmons and Jamal Murray have already signed. Then, we move to Pascal Siakam, Jaylen Brown, Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Brandon Ingram, Dario Saric, Caris LeVert, Jakob Poeltl, Domantas Sabonis, Taurean Prince, Juan Hernangomez, Malik Beasley, Dejounte Murray.

Jul 18, 2019

In this episode, I chat with Cole Zwicker about two subjects: the Russell Westbrook-Chris Paul trade, and NBA Summer League. First, we talk for half an hour about why the Westbrook-Paul deal might be the most interesting in the NBA. Then, we break down what we think each team looks like going forward.

Then, we run deep into Summer League, where Cole makes me talk about like 25 more players than I actually wanted to.

Jul 7, 2019

In this episode, Cole joins and we break down what happened with the Kawhi Leonard deal. How does it shift the balance of power in the NBA? How does it change the stakes across the league? What will the Clippers look like? Are they title favorites? Where does Oklahoma City go from here? Should they trade Russell Westbrook? Can Masai Ujiri turn Toronto around? Finally, what do the Lakers do now?

Dieter Kurtenbach jumps on to chat with me about like 100 different things in a very scattered podcast. We start with Liverpool (because of course), then go into Dieter deciding to throw fire on the Rockets with a joke tweet about how Adam Silver should fix the Finals for the Warriors in order to help the TV ratings. But then we actually decide to chat seriously about the topic of why the discussion about TV ratings within sports (particularly as it refers to NBA TV ratings) is flawed.

Then we chat about the Warriors-Rockets series, then Denver-Portland (Jokic!), Raptors-Sixers (Kawhi!), and Celtics-Bucks (Giannis!). Finally, we finish on Game of Thrones for 10 minutes.

May 1, 2019
